Filippo Saporito

Filippo Saporito began studying cooking at the age of 14, at the State Professional Hotelier Institute “Pellegrino Artusi” in Chianciano Terme. After five years of Hotel School, interspersed with five summer working seasons in various hotels and restaurants throughout Italy, Filippo immediately entered the world of work, alternating between Tuscan restaurants and experience abroad, specifically in Germany, France and the United States. In almost four years spent in Berlin, Paris and Atlanta, he acquired an excellent knowledge of the restaurant industry. However, the great opportunity arrived in Italy at the “Arnolfo” restaurant in Colle Val d’Elsa. In fact, during the two years Filippo spent there, the Gaetano Trovato’s restaurant received its second Michelin star.

In May 2002 Filippo and his wife, Chef Ombretta Giovannini, were ready to make the entrepreneurial leap and purchased the restaurant “La Leggenda dei Frati” in Abbadia Isola in the municipality of Monteriggioni. In a few years, they managed to consolidate their presence in the area with excellent reviews from all the guides in the sector.

2006 is the year of the entry into the prestigious association “Jeunes Restauraters d’Europe (JRE)”.

In 2015 La Leggenda dei Frati moved to the beautiful garden of Villa Bardini in Florence where in 2016 the first Michelin Star arrived.

In 2019 Filippo Saporito becomes President JRE Italy.
